WIP Wednesday: Falling for Kigali

Falling for Kigali

Falling for Kigali Teaser Image

A draft of my latest manuscript is with my editor – yay! A bunch of decisions from now and I’ll be able to publish it.

This book is a bit of a departure in that it isn’t PNR. No wolf shifters, or shifters of any kind. Sorry! But I hope you’ll give it a chance, because it’s set in Rwanda and there’s plenty of steamy action.

A woman with a heart as big as her temper. A man with secrets that threaten their love. Will she be consumed by passion like she’s never known?

Lizzy Jones came to Rwanda to work with a humanitarian aid organization after the genocide. This is her first overseas assignment and she’s in way over her head.

In addition to the challenges of her job as the project administrator for an all-African team of public health professionals, Lizzy didn’t expect:

  • to meet a hot American military attaché
  • steamy nights and lazy mornings in his arms
  • to fall so completely, utterly, head over heels in love

But many obstacles stand in the way of her happiness. Secrets from his past, an overly paternal volunteer, threats of imprisonment, and a friend who wants benefits. Lizzy must learn to keep her temper in check, her mouth closed, and her heart open, or she’ll lose the chance at passion she didn’t even know she craved.

Falling for Kigali is a complete story with a HEA and NO cliffhangers. Stay tuned for FFK companion novels for more busy days and sexy nights in the Land of a Thousand Hills.

WIP Wednesday: Saving Their Wolf

WIP Wednesday Paris Harem

I’m currently working on a new series, The Paris Harem trilogy, which follows Dany and Lucien’s cousin, Catherine, a wolf shifter like the rest of the Malraux family. (Readers meet the Malraux family in Wolves of Paris.)

Catherine isn’t part of the family shifter hunting business; she’s a waitress hiding a tragic memory about a past relationship, and hiding from love. In Book 1, Saving Their Wolf, she’s moved back to Paris from the south of France, with a boyfriend in tow. But Catherine is drawn to two other men and there may be a reason the four of them have found each other.

On top of the unknowns in her love life, someone is threatening Catherine. Someone tied to her dead ex-boyfriend.

So, this is my first foray into reverse harem, and I’m thrilled that it takes place in the world of Wolves of Paris and Shifter Hunters Ltd. Catherine is very different from my shifter hunting protagonists. She loves pink and everything frilly and feminine. Since I live in a house full of guys, this may be my way of injecting some femininity into my world. In my teens, I was just like Catherine, but in college I turned away from pink and wore a lot of black. I found the color pink again after having my first son.

What do you think you need a little more of in your life? And how do you treat yourself?

WIP Wednesday: Shifter Hunters in Paris

WIP Wednesday SHP

Shifter Hunters in Paris is a spin-off of Wolves of Paris, Book 2 of the Shifter Hunters Ltd. trilogy. In Wolves of Paris, we meet Lucien’s sister Dany and her boyfriend, Guy, who can barely keep their hands off each other. I thought it might be fun to show you how Dany and Guy met and fell in love, so I wrote a prequel short story (which still doesn’t have a name).

In the nameless short, Dany is a college student and has no intention of going into the family shifter hunting business. Guy, a bear shifter from the southwest of France, goes to business school with Lucien. When they first meet, sparks fly (as shown in Tori’s Teaser Tuesday from 6/26).

But someone is stalking Dany, and she kind of has a boyfriend. So, she has a lot to figure out before she can decide she even wants to get to know Guy.

So that’s what it’s about. The series will be called Shifter Hunters in Paris, but none of the books (or this prequel) have a name. Each book in the series will have some mystery and suspense. Share your ideas in the comments! I might just pick yours (in which case, I’ll acknowledge you in the books you give me the titles for).

Let’s Talk About: America’s Next Reality Star

Tori watches plenty of guilty pleasure TV. How about you?

The idea of a romance set on a reality TV show made me really excited to meet the author, Laura Heffernan, at an event at my local indie bookstore in May. Laura is awesome. Super intelligent with a dry sense of humor.

After a cool evening with her, I had to read her book. After reading the book, I never want to be on a reality show. Don’t get me wrong! The book is great. It offered such a comprehensive look behind the scenes, that I’m convinced no typical introvert author would ever put themselves through what Jen put herself through in America’s Next Reality Star. But it sure was fun to read about.

The ebook is currently on sale for 99 cents and Book 2, Sweet Reality, will release in September (and can be preordered now).

Bisous,
Tori

Let’s Talk About: Jilting the Duke

Tori has a confession to make.

I love reading Historical Romance.

Even though I have little interest in writing it, I do love a good historical romance. My TBR and already-read lists are filled with Courtney Milan, Elizabeth Hoyt, Theresa Romain, Hannah Howell, and now, Rachael Miles.

I was first introduced to Jilting the Duke when the author, Rachael Miles, and I did a romance author event together at my local indie bookstore. Rachael is lovely in person and I devoured the book description, so I just had to read it.

It doesn’t disappoint. Steamy without being explicit, plenty of suspense, and a tiny hint of paranormal. The story sucked me in from the beginning.

Jilting the Duke cover

Jilting the Duke is the first book in the Muses’ Salon series. I look forward to getting on to the next one.

Bisous,
Tori

Let’s Talk About Wicked Sexy Liar

Liza Street talks about Wicked Sexy Liar, by Christina Lauren:

wicked sexy liar

Wicked Sexy Liar, by Christina Lauren, is the fourth book in the Wild Seasons series. Honestly, I was worried that I wouldn’t like it as much as Dark Wild Night, (the third book), because part of what I loved about Dark Wild Night was the graphic novelist heroine, Lola. I loved how during critical moments, she’d have a flash of imagery as if the moment were happening in a comic panel. So cool.

But Wicked Sexy Liar did not disappoint in the slightest! The humor was still there, and the conflict and sexual tension were done very well. London and Luke were both endearing in their own ways, and I especially loved London’s attitude about sex, and Luke’s wake-up call, which seemed ongoing but delighted me throughout.

Bonus–this one had a fun short story at the end, featuring the character Luke’s friend and Oliver’s employee, Not-Joe.
