In the staff lodge, she dumped her bag on the floor and rushed to the window. Her own home was beautiful, but this view, out over the plains dotted with animals and occasionally including Kilimanjaro when the weather conditions were just right, always made her feel comfortably insignificant in the world.

Her own problems just didn’t matter. This view reminded her that life goes on, nature runs wild, no matter what was happening in her own life. So what if she was having trouble finding the perfect job since finishing university? The savanna, the gnu, the elephants, the Goliath herons, and her beloved giraffes would always be here.

Catalog Changes

Whew, it’s been a wild few weeks. Out in the world, people are rising up to fight for social justice, to protest police brutality. And we’re still in the midst of a global pandemic. Life hasn’t felt normal for months.

One way I get through difficult times is to pour myself into my work. And that is what I have done, while still paying attention to what is going on in our world, and offering my support how I can. For the record, I believe that Black Lives Matter – I’m a BIPOC ally and an LGBTQ+ ally.

Pouring myself into my work has meant some changes to the books you already know, as detailed below. I’m very excited about these changes and the books to come!

The biggest changes have been to the Hotel Safari series.

The 6 novellas have been turned into 3 books – it’s now a trilogy!

Pride of Africa is still free on all retailers, but now it includes Night Spots as well, so you get double the steamy shifters for zero pennies.

And I’m currently working on a new prequel short story for this series. Called Untamed Savanna, it’s the story of how Pippa and Jonathan (Colin’s parents) met. Upcoming books

Next up, I’ll be finishing the Paris Harem trilogy. Poor Saving Their Wolf has been hanging out in the virtual world all alone for long enough. Expect pre-order dates sometime this summer, with planned releases this fall or winter.

Falling for Kigali and its sequel will be pushed off to next year.

Next year will also see the publication of a new series set in the world of Hotel Safari.

I know our world is on fire at the moment. If you’re fighting for justice, keep up the fight! Xander didn’t know what to make of the sexy redhead. She was almost too sexy, alternately flirting and arguing with him. It seemed like she had a preconceived notion of him. He didn’t know if this was a good thing or a bad thing, because he didn’t know who she thought he was. A big meathead, maybe?

The one thing he knew for sure, she couldn’t know he was a shifter.

Pippa drove them across the savanna and before long they came to a grouping of elephants, zebras, and gazelles. She stopped the vehicle and he hung out the window snapping pictures. Pippa stopped for him in different locations so he could photograph the same groupings of animals from different angles.

When he finally finished—after perhaps an hour or longer—he pulled his head back into the vehicle and noticed Megan dozing in the front seat.

“Is she always like this?” he asked Pippa.

Pippa glanced at the sleeping woman. “Like what?”

He weighed his options in adjectives. Argumentative. Annoyed. Hot as hell. Then settled on, “Complicated.”

She moaned as she’d moaned over the food. She had never felt anything so delicious. But while it felt so good, there was now nothing for her mouth to do and she wanted to devour him.

She pulled his head up and mashed her mouth on his. She couldn’t get enough of the taste of him.

He cupped her breast, his thumb flicking her nipple through the thin fabric of her dress. She arched her back, subconsciously reaching for him.

His eyes were cool and compassionate and staring into them calmed her. She was coming to rely on his presence. When he left, her heart might shatter. Her gaze drifted down to his bare torso. It was a very nice torso. Broad and hard with rippling abdominals. He lifted his beer to his mouth and she watched his rough hand gripping the bottle. His biceps flexed with the motion.

She jumped off the chaise. “Ready for a swim?” She didn’t wait for his answer and, instead, strode to the pool and dove in. The cool water flowed over her. It felt like heaven.

Hans jumped in after her, surfaced, and grinned. He shook his head, scattering water droplets.

She turned away to hide her expression. She didn’t want to be attracted to him. To her friend. She had never felt so comfortable with anyone since Gran died. Hans, as a friend, was more important than her sexual urges. Even if it had been forever. She’d just have to push her feelings aside, especially since they didn’t mean anything. It was just attraction.

For her friend.

In honor of spring finally beginning to arrive where I live (despite an ice storm this weekend), I’ve decided to drop the prices of all of the Hotel Safari books. The individual books are down to only 99 cents! And the box set is down to $3.99 (it includes all 6 books and a bonus short story). Book 1 is still free on all vendors.

These books have a special place in my heart, since all except Book 5 are set in beautiful Kenya. I have so many fond memories of Kenya – the markets, architecture, and bustle of Nairobi, the fun people I met on a camping safari in the Masai Mara, and all the amazing animals in the national parks and preserves.

And the weather in the northeastern US right now definitely makes me long for the heat of sub-Saharan Africa!
